Hand picked from 15 to 25-year-old dryland vines on Swartland Schist and Shale soils. Harvesting took place from the middle of February to end of February. 100% destemmed and naturally fermented in open top fermenters. Barrel maturation in 500L French oak barrels for 10 months.
Hints of red and dark fruits, leather, spice and earthiness. Medium-bodied on the palate with primary fruit expression beautifully balanced by fine yet youthful tannin and subtle acid giving freshness and a lift to the wine. The earthy and spicy notes give texture and depth to the palate and a certain warmth to this beautifully expressive Syrah.
